Does Every RN Program Have A HESI EXIT Exam

No! Every RN program does not require a HESI Exit exam. Every nursing program does have the option of requiring the HESI Exit for their students. However, there are programs which do not.

In most cases, the nursing programs that administer the HESI Exit exam use the examination to help determine if their graduating students are ready to take and pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX)

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. administers the NCLEX exam. Regardless of their current residence, all nurses must pass the NCLEX exam to receive their license and become eligible to practice nursing.

The primary role of NCLEX is to determine whether the nurses have the skills and knowledge necessary to carry out satisfactory and safe operations in the nursing industry. The NCLEX will help assess how well the recent nursing graduates learnt the information from their nursing school. It also helps assess their critical thinking skills, which will help them make judgments about patient care. Nursing programs use the HESI Exit exam as a benchmark in determining whether graduates possess the proper knowledge to pass the NCLEX exam.
